akhenaten
Hand-picked animal bones and teeth interpreted into cast glass, washed ashore from the Gower Peninsula, workshop offcuts, scraps of hand flamed copper, leftover leather from previous projects, alongside organically shaped metal forms unearthed from the coastal sand. Curiously shaped beach found plastic and sawn bottle rings, with old copper electrical wire – worked into jewellery chain.
Slow processed, hand-dyed horsehair using ground foraged lichen, pinecones, twigs, and moss. Alongside hand-painted leather pieces portraying talismans and ancient mythological symbols.
These elements are all juxtaposed to form an interpretation of a group of ritualistic healing objects for the journey of King Akhenaten into the afterlife, worn by two performers in a visual dance.
