The wearable chandelier

Carmarthenshire coast beach found plastic juxtaposed with workshop abandoned glass and re-purposed copper plumbing pipes/wire/vintage plate, skip-found chandelier, driftwood. Hand- finished in the forge and jewellery workshop.  The Chandelier reveals a beautiful revolting mess of human excess with many recognisable pieces from our childhoods.  Relating the Chandelier to the context to where the ‘New Jewellery’ was found in South Wales gives the piece a story and pseudo-scientific study or even a contemporary natural history museum feel to the piece.

The chandelier has the flexibility to be worn, with the necklaces available to be interchanged at will. The jewellery being strong enough to be able to stand alone on the wearers body or sit on the chandelier as part of a home setting. Making us all think about the materiality of objects, where their origins were, who owned them, how far they have travelled, how they physically break down into the food chain, how nature nurses and sculpts them into new forms entirely.
